Remote code execution via unblocked DBCP gadget
Published Jan 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in FasterXML jackson-databind before 2.9.10.8 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted JSON input. SubTypeValidator omits Tomcat DBCP DriverAdapterCPDS from its prohibited subtype set, allowing polymorphic typing to construct the gadget. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled JSON, enabled polymorphic typing, the gadget class on the classpath, and user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
