Remote code execution in Veritas APTARE IT Analytics 10.4 and 10.5 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM via OpenSSL engine loading. At startup, OpenSSL searches for missing configuration files under paths that low-privileged Windows users can create, allowing a malicious engine to be loaded when the system restarts. The attacker needs a local account and directory-creation access; successful execution grants SYSTEM-level control and access to data and installed applications.
