Terminal impersonation via unauthenticated token issuance
Published May 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in PAX Technology PAXSTORE 7.0.8_20200511171508 and earlier allows attackers to impersonate payment terminals. The /p-market-api/v1/terminal/login endpoint issues X-Terminal-Token credentials for attacker-supplied device identities without requiring a password or security key. Exploitation requires an attacker-controlled payment terminal and a captured token-assignment request, enabling access to another terminal's restricted apps or reseller management context.
