Remote code execution via MIME-only profile upload
Published Jun 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in bloofoxCMS 0.5.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through a profile image upload. The profile action accepts the filename parameter after checking only the client-supplied MIME type, so a PHP file labeled image/jpeg is stored under the web-accessible media/images/profiles path. An administrator session is required; successful exploitation grants control of the web server through the uploaded backdoor.
