Authenticated reflected XSS via referer parameter
Published Jan 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Quest Policy Authority 8.1.2.200 allows remote authenticated users to inject script into a browser via a crafted link. The ReportPreview.do endpoint reflects the HTTP referer parameter into generated HTML without neutralizing script content, so a victim who follows the link executes attacker-controlled code in the application origin. Exploitation requires a logged-in user to activate the link; the documented consequence is browser-side script execution with possible limited data access or actions under that user's session, and the affected release is unsupported.
