CVE-2020-35653Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory disclosure and crash via untrusted PCX stride

Published Jan 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Pillow before 8.1.0 allows remote attackers to disclose memory or crash image-processing applications via crafted PCX files. PcxDecode sizes its row buffer from the file-reported stride instead of deriving the required width from decoded image dimensions. Exploitation requires an application to decode an attacker-supplied PCX file and results in adjacent process-memory exposure or process termination.
