CVE-2020-35636Network attack vector

Code execution via unchecked Nef volume index

Published Mar 4, 2021 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute code by supplying a malformed Nef polygon file. The read_sface function uses an attacker-controlled index plus addInfiBox to access Volume_of and assign sfh->volume without checking vector bounds. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the crafted file; the invalid object reference creates type confusion that enables code execution in that application's context.
