Code execution via unchecked SLoop index
Published Aug 30, 2021 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 Nef polygon parsing allows attackers to execute code by supplying a malformed geometry file. In Nef_S2/SNC_io_parser.h, read_sface passes an unchecked file-supplied index into SLoop_of while store_sm_boundary_item records the resulting object. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the crafted input, after which the invalid object reference causes type confusion and arbitrary code execution.
