Code execution via unchecked Nef edge index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 Nef polygon parsing allows attackers to execute code by supplying a malformed Nef file. The SNC_io_parser::read_sface() method uses an unchecked file-derived index to access Edge_of and append that element to boundary_entry_objects. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse attacker-controlled Nef data, after which the invalid access can cause type confusion and arbitrary code execution.
