Session-cookie theft via reflected Origin header
Published Feb 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Pi-hole 5.0, 5.1, and 5.1.1 allows remote attackers to steal session cookies through a crafted HTTP request. The admin/ endpoint reflects an unsanitized Origin header into its response, causing a victim’s browser to execute injected script. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to open an attacker-controlled page, and the missing HttpOnly flag exposes the PHP session cookie.
