Authenticated command execution via plugin filename
Published Jan 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Nagios XI before 5.8.0 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute commands via plugin upload. The monitoringplugins.php upload handler passes the uploaded filename to the line-ending conversion shell command without neutralizing metacharacters. Administrator access and the Convert line endings option are required, and successful commands run as the Apache service account.
