Application crash via uninitialized CR3 subband pointer
Published Sep 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in LibRaw 0.20-RC2 through 0.20.2 and 0.21-Beta1 allows attackers to crash applications via crafted CR3 files. crxReadImageHeaders allocates the tile and subband table without zero-initializing it, so cleanup dereferences an uninitialized bandParam pointer in crxFreeSubbandData. Context-dependent attackers must cause a LibRaw-consuming application to process the malformed file; the demonstrated consequence is an access-violation crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
