Stored script execution via unencoded language setting
Published Mar 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in NETGEAR JGS516PE 2.6.0.43 and GS116Ev2 2.6.0.43 allows remote attackers to run script in the administration panel. The multiLanguageCfg handler stores the unvalidated selectLang value and renders it without encoding on every control-panel page. Plus Utility support must be enabled, and the related CSRF weakness lets an external attacker induce an administrator to store script that issues administrative requests or exfiltrates panel data.
