CVE-2020-3432

Arbitrary file corruption via uninstaller symlink following

Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2025

Symlink following in the macOS uninstaller of Cisco Secure Client before 4.9.00086 allows local users to corrupt any file. The uninstaller incorrectly resolves a specific directory path and follows an attacker-created symbolic link when writing file content. Valid local credentials and user interaction are required; targeting a critical system file can interrupt service by damaging that file.
