Authenticated parser crash via unhardened XML configuration
Published May 6, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
XML parser denial of service in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense before 6.2.3 allows remote authenticated users to crash the parser. The Firepower Device Manager On-Box parser uses an insufficiently hardened XML configuration when processing a malicious uploaded or VPN-delivered file. Administrative upload privileges or Clientless SSL VPN access are required; exploitation exhausts memory, destabilizes the system, and can reload the device.
