CVE-2020-3290Network attack vector

Root code execution via oversized web requests

Published Jun 18, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Stack overflow in Cisco RV router firmware through 1.5.1.05 or 4.2.3.10 allows remote authenticated users to execute root code. Web management scripts accept overly large request values without sufficient boundary restrictions, overflowing a stack buffer. Administrative web-interface access is required; the interface is reachable from the local LAN, while internet-facing remote management is disabled by default, and exploitation can also crash the router.
