CVE-2020-3288Network attack vector

Root code execution via oversized management requests

Published Jun 18, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Stack overflow in Cisco Small Business RV Series Router Firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root. Management scripts accept crafted requests containing overly large values without sufficient boundary restrictions, overflowing a stack buffer. Administrative web access is required; exploitation can crash the device or run arbitrary code as root, and WAN reachability requires the disabled-by-default remote management feature.
