CVE-2020-3232Network attack vector

Authenticated router reload via mishandled CDP query data

Published Jun 3, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Denial of service in Cisco ASR 920 model ASR920-12SZ-IM allows remote authenticated users to reload the router through an SNMP query. An SNMP request for Cisco Discovery Protocol information makes the implementation incorrectly handle returned CDP data, triggering a device reload when exploitation succeeds. SNMP 2c or 3 and Cisco Discovery Protocol must both be configured, and a valid SNMP credential is required; successful exploitation interrupts routing until the device restarts.
