Improper input validation in Cisco IOS with CIP enabled allows remote attackers to reload affected devices via crafted CIP traffic. The CIP implementation insufficiently processes untrusted protocol traffic before the device handles it, allowing malformed messages to trigger a reload. CIP is disabled by default; successful exploitation requires that feature to be configured and causes a service interruption without reported data disclosure or modification.
