Root code execution via two-stage file upload
Published Jun 3, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Improper input validation in the Cisco IOS XE Software web UI allows remote authenticated users with administrative privileges to execute root code. The web UI inadequately validates user-supplied input during a two-file sequence: one malicious file is created on-device and another is uploaded. The HTTP Server feature must be enabled, and successful exploitation can also bypass licensing requirements.
