Privileged code execution via insufficient upgrade signature validation

Improper signature verification in Cisco NFVIS 3.11.1 and earlier allows local users to execute crafted code through an upgrade file. The upgrade component accepts a crafted image without adequately validating its cryptographic signature, allowing unauthorized code to be installed. Exploitation requires highly privileged local access and an upgrade operation, after which the crafted code runs on the affected device.
