CVE-2020-3132Network attack vector

Email-processing interruption via shortened-URL resource exhaustion

Published Feb 19, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Cisco Secure Email Gateway before 12.5.1-037 or 13.0.0-375 allows remote attackers to interrupt email processing. The email scanner's shortened-URL expansion parser inadequately handles email bodies containing many shortened URLs and consumes excessive processing resources. Shortened-URL filtering is enabled by default, but exploitation also depends on conditions outside the attacker's control; successful exploitation causes a temporary service interruption.
