Adjacent code execution and reload via malformed CDP
Published Feb 5, 2020 · Updated Nov 15, 2024
Improper input validation in Cisco Video Surveillance 8000 Series IP Cameras before 1.0.7 allows attackers to execute code or reload the device. Missing checks in the Cisco Discovery Protocol implementation allow a crafted Layer 2 packet to reach unsafe message processing. Cisco Discovery Protocol must be enabled, and the unauthenticated attacker must share the camera's Layer 2 broadcast domain; exploitation can take control of the camera or interrupt service by rebooting it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
