Arbitrary code execution via malformed Type 1 font
Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in Apple FontParser across macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS allows attackers to execute code via a crafted font. The CoreText libFontParser.dylib mishandles /BlendDesignPositions objects in Type 1 fonts, causing stack corruption during parsing. Execution requires the target to process the crafted font, and resulting code runs in the parsing process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
