An out-of-bounds read in Apple ImageIO before the listed 2020 updates allows attackers to execute code through a crafted image. ImageIO accepts malformed image data without sufficient bounds validation and reads beyond the valid input buffer; Apple has not identified the affected parser or function. Exploitation requires an affected process to open or otherwise process the image, and successful memory corruption permits code execution in that process's context.
