Arbitrary file deletion via BackupDelete path traversal
Published Mar 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in BackupDelete in Grav CMS through 1.7.0-rc.17 allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary server files. BackupDelete accepts a traversal-bearing backup path and performs file deletion without confining the resolved path to the backup directory. An authenticated session can invoke the operation directly; absent CSRF protection also lets an unauthenticated attacker induce it through an authenticated user's browser.
