CVE-2020-29492Network attack vector

Unauthenticated configuration file manipulation

Published Jan 4, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Insecure default configuration in Dell Wyse ThinOS 8.6 and prior versions allows remote unauthenticated attackers to manipulate a writable configuration file via an insecure file-server protocol. The exposed file is used to configure a specific thin client, so unauthorized writes can change device settings and compromise the station. Exploitation requires network access to the client’s configured file server and no credentials.
