Sniffer service interruption via crafted requests
Published Apr 6, 2022 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Improper input validation in Fortinet FortiSandbox before 3.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to halt the traffic sniffer. The sniffer interface accepts specifically crafted requests without adequate input validation, causing the sniffer to stop silently; Fortinet has not disclosed the affected request field or parsing operation. Access to an authenticated management interface is required, and the bounded impact is interruption of traffic-sniffing analysis rather than shutdown of the appliance.
