CVE-2020-28963Public exploit

Local code execution via crafted project file

Published Oct 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Buffer overflow in Passcovery ZIP Password Recovery 3.70.69.0 allows local users to execute code via a crafted KPR project file. The project importer accepts oversized values in multiple KPR fields, overwrites process registers, and redirects exception handling to attacker-controlled shellcode. Exploitation requires a low-privileged local account and compromises the application process, with the advisory also reporting privilege elevation.
