Apache-to-nagios escalation via command injection
Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in Nagios Fusion 4.1.8 and earlier allows local users running as Apache to execute commands as nagios. The cmd_subsys.php command processor insufficiently sanitizes attacker-controlled command data before incorporating it into a command line for shell execution. Reachability requires prior Apache-context code execution or equivalent command-data control; successful exploitation gains the nagios account's privileges.
