Client code execution via formula-bearing CSV export
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
CSV injection in ChurchCRM 4.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code when an event-type export is opened in a spreadsheet. EventNames.php writes the attacker-controlled Name field to CSV without neutralizing a leading formula character, so spreadsheet software evaluates the field as a formula. An authenticated user must store the payload, and a recipient must open the export and enable external content or macros; execution occurs on the recipient's client.
