Cross-site scripting via unvalidated postMessage evaluation
Published Jan 19, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Stockdio Historical Chart before 2.8.1 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript via a crafted message. The stockdio_eventer function in stockdio_chart_historical-wp.js accepts postMessage events from any origin and passes data.method to eval(). A victim must visit an attacker-controlled page that opens the vulnerable WordPress page; the resulting script runs in that site's browser origin and can read or alter data accessible to the victim.
