Root command execution via diagnostic tool injection
Published Mar 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Askey RTF3505VW-N1 BR_SV_g000_R3505VWN1001_s32_7 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root. The Ping, DNS Lookup, and Traceroute tools pass unsanitized input to Linux commands, enabling injected sleep and wget operations. Exploitation requires access to the router's wired or Wi-Fi network and can expose administrator credentials for dashboard or SSH control.
