Code execution via unchecked Nef edge index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 Nef polygon parsing allows attackers to execute code by supplying a malformed geometry file. SNC_io_parser::read_sedge() reads an attacker-controlled integer and uses it directly to index SEdge_of when assigning seh->prev(), without validating the index. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the crafted Nef input and gives the attacker the privileges of that process, including the ability to crash it or execute code.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
