Code execution via unchecked Nef sface index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 Nef polygon parsing allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted Nef file. SNC_io_parser::read_sedge reads an unvalidated index from the file and uses it to select SFace_of[index] for seh->incident_sface(). Any application that passes attacker-controlled Nef data to the parser exposes its process to memory corruption and code execution.
