Code execution via unchecked Nef_S2 edge index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 Nef_S2 parsing allows remote attackers to execute code by supplying a malformed Nef file. SNC_io_parser::read_sedge uses a file-derived index to read Edge_of without bounds validation, then assigns the resulting invalid handle to seh->source(). The flaw is reached when a consuming application parses attacker-controlled Nef_S2 data, and the invalid handle can produce type confusion and code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
