Code execution via unchecked incident-volume index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL Project CGAL 5.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via a malformed Nef polygon file. The Nef_S2 SNC_io_parser::read_facet() method uses an unvalidated file-supplied index plus addInfiBox to access Volume_of before assigning fh->incident_volume(). Applications are exposed when they pass attacker-controlled Nef polygon data to the parser, enabling out-of-bounds reads, type confusion, and code execution.
