Code execution via unchecked Nef vertex index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL Project's CGAL 5.1.1 Nef_S2 parser allows attackers to execute code via a malformed Nef polygon file. SNC_io_parser::read_edge() uses a file-controlled integer to index Vertex_of and assign eh->center_vertex() without checking the vector bounds. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the crafted file; dereferencing the corrupted object can crash that process or execute code in its security context.
