Code execution via unchecked Nef vertex index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL 5.1.1 Nef polygon parsing allows remote attackers to execute code via a malformed geometry file. In Nef_S2/SNC_io_parser.h, SNC_io_parser::read_vertex uses an attacker-controlled nonnegative index to address Edge_of before assigning vh->svertices_begin(). A consuming application must pass attacker-controlled Nef S2 data to the parser, after which code executes with that application's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
