Code execution via unchecked halfedge index
Published Apr 18, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in CGAL Project CGAL 5.1.1 allows attackers to execute code when an application parses a crafted Nef file. The Nef_2 PM_io_parser read_hedge routine joins range predicates with OR, then uses the untrusted previous-edge index to read Halfedge_of out of bounds. Exploitation requires an application built with the library to parse attacker-controlled Nef data and can crash the process or execute code in its context.
