CVE-2020-28594Network attack vector

Code execution via stale 3MF object indexes

Published Aug 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Use-after-free in PrusaSlicer's 3MF importer in 2.2.0 and Master commit 4b040b856 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted file. The _3MF_Importer::_handle_end_model() loop deletes entries from the model-object vector without updating attacker-controlled object-index mappings, so a later iteration retrieves and frees an already deleted object. Exploitation requires a user to open or import the crafted 3MF file and results in code execution in that user's security context.
