CVE-2020-28592Public exploit

Code execution via oversized JSON URI value

Published Apr 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in the COSORI CS158-AF 1.1.0 configuration server allows physically proximate attackers to execute code via crafted JSON. The server allocates 104 bytes for a reply but converts an attacker-controlled URI beginning with /query into /reply without bounding the appended data, overwriting the saved execution pointer. Exploitation requires association with the device setup Wi-Fi access point after a physical reset; successful code execution can alter cooking temperature, time, and operation.
