OS command execution via unneutralized image argument
Published Aug 2, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Command injection in npos-tesseract 0.0.3 and earlier allows attackers to execute OS commands through a crafted image argument. The OCR entry point forwards the image string without neutralizing shell metacharacters at lib/ocr.js line 55, allowing the string to alter the command. A consuming Node.js application must pass attacker-controlled data as that argument; injected commands run with the application's privileges.
