Remote code execution via unrestricted PHP upload
Published May 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unrestricted upload of file with dangerous type in ArticleCMS all versions allows remote attackers to execute PHP code via crafted uploads. The /public/admin content editor checks only Content-Type and stores PHP payloads despite filename and content filtering, allowing executable scripts to persist on the server. Remote attackers can submit crafted uploads; successful exploitation enables server-side command execution, while the public record does not document authentication requirements.
