Code execution via externally writable scripts
Published Sep 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Code injection in Apple TV app for Fire OS before 6.1.0.6A142:7.1.0 allows local users to execute code through shared storage. The app extracts an embedded JavaScript application to external storage and later executes app.js without protecting it from other apps with external-storage write permission. A malicious app must receive that permission and alter app.js; its injected JavaScript then runs in the Apple TV app context and can access that app's session data.
