Arbitrary code execution via unchecked image processing
Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Arbitrary code execution in Apple macOS before Big Sur 11.1 allows attackers to execute code by processing a crafted image. The ImageIO decoder applies insufficient checks to attacker-controlled image data, but Apple has not disclosed the exact parsing operation or memory-safety defect. The target must process the image, and exploitation runs attacker-chosen code in the context of the consuming process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
