Arbitrary code execution via out-of-bounds image read
Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Apple ImageIO in macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS allows attackers to execute code via a crafted image. ImageIO insufficiently validates crafted image input before performing an out-of-bounds read during processing. Exploitation requires a user to cause an affected application to process the image; successful exploitation executes code with that application's privileges.
