CVE-2020-27873

Credential disclosure via unauthorized SOAP password recovery

Published Feb 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper access control in the SOAP API of NETGEAR R7450 1.2.0.62_1.0.1 allows attackers to disclose stored administrative credentials. The RecoverAdminPassword endpoint on TCP port 80 returns stored credentials without enforcing authorization. No authentication is required, but the attacker must reach the router from an adjacent network; the disclosed credentials enable further compromise.
