Code execution via invalid XFA layout-object conversion
Published Feb 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in XFA parsing in Foxit PDF Reader 10.1.0.37527 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code. While modifying control attributes and appending nodes, the parser fails to validate an object and converts it from an incorrect layout object, writing past an allocated structure. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious PDF, and successful code runs in the current process context.
