CVE-2020-27748Public exploitNetwork attack vector

File disclosure via injected Thunderbird attachment

Published Jun 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in xdg-email in freedesktop.org xdg-utils 1.1.0-rc1 allows remote attackers to disclose local files via mailto URIs. The Thunderbird path converts the complete URI into a compose argument and lets subject or body data inject attachment or message directives. A victim must open the crafted link, overlook the added attachment, and send the message, exposing a readable local file selected by the attacker.
